Hello Good People in the Land! I love this sunset photo of one of my favorite spots in Carmel Valley off of Laureles Grade and I pass this site nearly every day. These sporadic trees at the top of the hillside and vineyards beneath them just make you wanna dream big dreams. I tell ya, no matter where I drive in the Monterey Peninsula, Iím in awe of its beauty. I am so blessed to live where I do, especially after 20 years of L.A. traffic - Incomparable.

Iím sure everyone is gearing up for this Thursdayís celebration of Thanksgiving. Its good to live in a state of thanks and not much is better than having an amazing meal with friends and family. This week Iím thankful that I got to go to see Todd Rundgren (one of my all time favs) and I got to talk with him after the show. I love these passing moments that fill the mind with unforgettable memories. May you make some great memories with the ones you love this week.

My next production is "Dan & Laurel Live at the Lab" on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 8pm so be sure to get your tickets at the link provided below for best seating, these two are super talented and entertaining and they are promoting their new CD.

I am really excited to be working with First Night Monterey lining up some fantastic music for New Year’s Eve at the fabulous new Conference Center and also booking corporate events at beachfront venue The Monterey Beach House. If youíre company needs a venue a Christmas Holiday party or special event, please contact me for an unforgettable party.

The link of the week at the end is one heck of an inedible but delicious looking turkey dinner - a kid could make...and look Mom, no dishes! Have a playful week and thanks again for your great support.

Planet Gemini

2 Bands

Planet Gemini is under new management - I’ve always liked the room so thought we’d give it a whirl. Looking forward to playing bass for this fabulous young singer, Reija, and guitarist Bart Keagy. Greg is on drums - so it should be a quite fun night doing some songs I don’t normally do. The band’s name is Cidre (like Cider).

About: Talk about an incredible voice coming out of a young beautiful lady - that`s Reija, backed by the most excellent Bart Keagy on guitar. They are doing a show at Planet Gemini and asked Greg and I to play with them. Who could turn down that invitation? Not us. I`m super excited to be playing bass for them. I miss my bass playing days and now that my sliced artery has healed sufficiently I can hold those bass strings down again. Greg is a very lyrical and stylistic drummer - looking forward to yet a new adventure with Reija and Bart.

These two met online - theyíve been gigging together ever since. It was a match made íonlineí and its the gift that keeps on giving. They have made several CDs already and tour the world. Donít miss their performance of their new songs on their newest CD.

About: Meeting via a chance YouTube sighting and fueled by a rare musical chemistry, Dan Frechette, guitar/vocals, and Laurel Thomsen, violin/vocals, both powerful and magnetic talents in their own rights, prove that musical magic is not only possible, but alive and well. In a relatively short time frame, the Alt-folk duo has overcome adversity to circumnavigate North America, logging over 25,000 miles, 130 concerts, and releasing their debut CD. Happy Thanksgiving Friends
A simple prayer: God Bless Each and Every One of My Readers, right where they are, whatever they are doing - in the way they most need it.

Please Lord, help the families who have lost their homes and many lives in the devastating fires - help them to not lose faith along with all of their other earthly items. Help us to think of someone lonely, hungry or in crisis today and do a random act of kindness specifically for them.

I personally lived through a house fire and the aftermath is very hard to rise above. Its family and friends that make all the difference in everyday living. Help and bless us all - in Jesusí name. . . . More »

OLD MANAGEMENT IS BACK AT CAFFE TRIESTE
As some of you may have noticed, a new manager came in at Caffe Trieste several months back and made some very expensive changes to the decor and tried to change the coffeehouse into a fine dining restaurant. It didnít work and it cost a lot of money for the remodel so the music is being postponed until the new year. Fortunately, Caffe Triesteís old management is back and they have brought back their old menu with all your favorite dishes. Visit us at 409 Alvarado Street and say hello.

Students with laptops are always welcome here. And to prove it, weíre putting our money where our mouth is. Students and active military with . . . More »

A film about Music in and Freedom of Expression
Stronger Than Bullets, is a film about a unexpected music "explosion" in Libya during the Arab Spring. This story documents the genesis of a counter-culture, a "mini-Woodstock", as musicians wrote and performed original songs supporting the revolution. The film won Best Documentary Feature at the 2016 Woodstock Film Festival and Best Soundtrack at the 2017 Seeyousound International Music Film Festival in Turin, Italy. A synopsis of the film is below: Libya 2011. A defiant music scene erupts during the revolt against Gaddafi. As the Revolution rages around them, musicians capture the hearts of the people, and strike a chord for free . . . More »     Watch the trailer

Can You Help A Fellow Musician in Need?
Many of you have been asking for a Wes update, and weíll address that after a brief funding plea. Our bald broís docs are see-sawing on the direction that his treatment will take thus drawing out the process which concerns Wes due to the increased time he will be off work. While we have hit our goal (and a little then-some) we are hoping to add to the pot to cover the unexpected treatment time and other unforeseen expenses. As before, if you can think of anyone who might be willing to help out, please forward this to them, using this link: https://www.gofundme.com/a-little-help-for-wes.
