A Long Way To Fall

Providing Quality Live Entertainment for the Monterey Peninsula

Hello Autumn Leaves & Lovers,

Well I guess we can kiss September goodbye and say hello to October. This time of year is so beautiful and everyone begins to feel the nip in the air. Thanks to all of you who came out to Barmel to see us and say goodbye to Ron our bassist. We will fully miss him and Kathy - the gig was so fun!

Speaking of fun - our first kickoff event at The Monterey Beach House is a FREE BEACH CONCERT FEATURING RED BEANS & RICE on Sunday, Oct. 14th from 1-4pm. Excited to just have some hang time on the beach. This is the only beach venue you can drink alcohol on their property, however, you cannot bring in your own alcohol. There will be gourmet burgers, garden burgers, hot dogs, sweet potato fries, etc. to make it easy on you. Their BBQ is the bomb so just kick back and enjoy the music, surroundings which includes a sailboat regatta with lots of sailboating to enjoy. I canít think of a better way to start the music there than a beach party. Come one - come all - bring the family - bring your friends. Thereís enough room for everybody and lots of beach chairs there. If your company is planning a Christmas Holiday Party, please have them come and check out this venue and enjoy their half off prices during the winter months and 30% off food! Iím so fortunate to have found this most excellent venue.

The link of the week below is absolutely HILARIOUS! What a voice, what a story, what a LOL performance. Thanks Ric Taylor for sending it in. Always worth the scroll. Have a playful week and thanks again for your great support.

Tom Lawson
Bakai Wine & Tapas   831.324.0862

Crooner & Keys

Heís a bluesy cat and I love him. One heck of a keyboard player too - heís got a song for you up his sleeve - and can teach you a thing or two about groove.

About: Tom Lawson, although known primarily as keyboardist/vocalist with Monterey area bands such as Blues at Eleven, strips the music down to the core of the blues experience with his solo piano and vocal performance. The music is selected from the birth of recorded blues in the 1920s onward, but it is more than just a history lesson. Each song tries to capture the emotion of the original performance and to involve the listener in the story that each song tells. Tom says,"It is one thing to play the notes but to communicate emotion demands more. I hope to do this every time I am in front of an audience."

Happy Birthday to Beth Peerless

A toast to a very special lady in our community - especially to the music scene - writer for the Monterey Herald Music & Entertainment column - Beth Peerless - Happy Birthday. We are so fortunate to have such a wonderful writer and fun loving lady in our community.

Cheers to you my friend.

Due to severe health issues with the Owner, Bakai is closing its doors after Tom Lawson performs this Saturday night so please stop by if you can and say goodbye and THANK YOU TO TERESE the MANAGER who has done such a great job there, and gave musicians of Monterey another venue to perform.

We love you Terese and I really enjoyed working with you, something tells me we will be working together again soon.

When I look through the roster of so many great performers that did shows there, it makes me sigh. Always remember, when when a door closes, a window opens elsewhere.

Thanks for Reading & For Your Support

Can You Help A Fellow Musician in Need?

As some of you may know, our buddy Wesís cancer has decided to make a reappearance after three years of being in remission. This previous battle was hard on him physically, but financially tough on him and his wife, Deb. He will begin treatment in the next week or so, culminating farther down the line in the new and very promising Car-T cell treatment, and all hopes are high.

Allow me to insert a portion of an e-mail that I received from Wes, far better explaining the situation:

Kiki, Thanks for sharing your life to all of us who love you. You have injected music into our community...and music heals!

The stories behind songs has always been a fascination by me, love to hear them, Iíve often thought what a wonderful book that would be...the stories behind rock classics. I actually ran that idea by Greg Kihn once, since he was publishing his own books. Anyways, well done, and much appreciated!!! Z

"I am so proud of you, Kiki...your life story is amazing and enchanting roller coaster. And you ran that show like you were born to it. You are an amazing person and talent and I am very proud to know y . . . More »     Donations will help me keep Eblasting
