Great Food & Music

Every first and third Friday at Chamisal’s Courtside Bistro we invite different music friends to be our featured artist. Tom is sitting in for us while we are in Nashville/Memphis. You’ll love his bluesy style. Also performing is Erik Dormody! Come and enjoy the complimentary appetizers!

About: Tom Lawson, although known primarily as keyboardist/vocalist with Monterey area bands such as Blues at Eleven, strips the music down to the core of the blues experience with his solo piano and vocal performance. The music is selected from the birth of recorded blues in the 1920s onward, but it is more than just a history lesson. Each song tries to capture the emotion of the original performance and to involve the listener in the story that each song tells. Tom says,"It is one thing to play the notes but to communicate emotion demands more. I hope to do this every time I am in front of an audience."

Throwing a little Country Western music in the mix, and he’s quite the crowd pleaser. I book him everywhere - and you’ll soon find out why.

About: A native Californian Robert Elmond Stone grew up on the road, a military brat in air force. `Used sing some of these old songs as a youngster with his mom. His father was big on jazz and classical so he grew up with lots of musical influences and began playin` young. Much music in the house. He rediscovered his musical roots and heritage one day when he just happened to sing some old country tune and " Whoa, that felt right, just fell into place". Been singin country music ever since.

3 Bluegrass Pros!

Dan Crary, Bill Evans & Wally Barnick - 3 pros!

I want to stress Dan’s importance as one of the original innovators way back in the 1960’s of the flatpick lead guitar in acoustic folk and bluegrass music. Along with Doc Watson and Clarence White, Dan was right in there with his innovative lead guitar playing.

About: Dan Crary, Bill Evans & Wally Barnick: Americana masters join forces in new trio Join flatpicking pioneer Dan Crary, banjo legend Bill Evans, and SoCal acoustic favorite Wally Barnick as they come together for the first time to perform cutting edge bluegrass, folk, and Americana music. Dan Crary is a pioneer of flatpicking guitar solos in a bluegrass band, right up there with founding fathers Doc Watson, Clarence White and Norman Blake in carving a role for the flatpick guitar soloist in bluegrass music. A founding member of the Bluegrass Alliance, and the "newgrass" approach, his 20+ year collaboration with Byron Berline and . . . More »

Incredible Songwriter

James Lee Stanley is one of the most proficient songwriters I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. If you are looking for a delightfully funny and thoroughly engaging musical night, look no further.

About: JAMES LEE STANLEY, the true renaissance man, was born in Philadelphia, PA, and has been recording and performing since he was fourteen. He has toured consistently since he returned from the USAF (as a Chinese linguist) and has performed up to three hundred dates a year since then, with such diverse acts as BONNIE RAITT, ROBIN WILLIAMS, NICOLETTE LARSON and even BILL COSBY. STEVEN WRIGHT chose James Lee as his opening act for three years in a row; a testament to his professionalism and talent.

Happy Belated Valentine’s (LOVE) Day! Hugs to you and Greg.

I always enjoy the thoughts in your newsletters. Love...do we get it (or don’t get it) from nature or from

nurture? Everyone has their theories. I don’t believe there is any one way. One person can grow up in a

loving home and for some reason "turn out" dysfunctional and unable to love or be loved; while another

grows up without knowing what it is to be loved, and yet somehow grows to bec . . . More »
