Hello Good People Everywhere - ’Twas a good and long Memorial weekend in which we are so grateful for those who gave their lives for our freedom to live as we do. It was also a weekend that Greg was called to L.A. to engineer a jazz record with Robert Turner at Capitol Records. I was so happy that he got to sit behind an SSL board again in Studio B and fly it like an astronaut who understands all of the control. He loves recording jazz and it was great he got to be in his element of expertise again. Fortunately, he got back in time for our one year anniversary! We were so happy to be with each other again.

Be sure to check ou the calendar for June because there’s a lot going on.

The Link of the Week at the bottom is a very cool rendition of Toto’s song Africa - all created by one barefooted pianist. Always worth the scroll.

Come and join the fun inside or outside - watch the band or watch the tennis players - beer or wine or mixed drinks. It’s all fun and more fun at Chamisal’s Courtside Bistro.

About: Singer/Songwriter, Kiki Wow, plays regularly throughout the Monterey Peninsula both classic favorites and original songs. Her engaging vocals and rhythm guitar hit a delightful and familiar chord that has her audiences singing along from the first song on. Greg Edenfield, drummer and mix engineer, puts the right rhythm to all of the songs. He`s got a different kit for each gig, really fun to watch. Ron Beckett is a great new bass player in the area. He`s also a mummy archeologist! Such a pleasure to have Ron keeping the bottom end full of rhythm.

Western Swing

What a treat to have this western swing award winning guitarist/singer play in Monterey! He usually plays for Carolyn Sills Combo but he’s flying solo for this show.

About: Gerard Egan is one fantastic guitar player - he can swing it as far as you want to go. He is the guitar player for Carolyn Sills` Combo and her songs were written and produced with husband/guitarist Gerard Egan are an homage to jukebox Americana—tasty twang reminiscent of Merle Travis and Patsy Cline." - Monterey County NOW The Carolyn Sills Combo was just voted 2018 Ameripolitan Western Swing Group of the Year! Five time Ameripolitan Award nominee for Western Swing group and female and a two time Academy of Western Artist Award nominee for Western Swing group and album, fans of classic country and western swing are f . . . Wonderful Women

Nicole is a well trained singer and wonderful songwriter, as is Marky Starks. Together I know their harmonies are going to soar.

About: After thirty years in Los Angeles, Nicole is proud to make the Central Coast her home. A former concert artist, hard times and heartbreak turned her towards songwriting. In 2012, Nicole released a new EP of original material inspired by Tin Pan Alley composers, “The Original Standards Project,” which featured jazz all-stars Dan Lutz, Ray Brinker (Tierney Sutton band), and John Boswell. In 2014, Nicole had the honor of having her original song, "Planned For Love", demoed on Sugar Joans (season 7; The Voice). “Lies For Christmas,” her original song performed by the Cement River jam band, was used in the feature film “The Co-exist Come . . . Inspirational Sunday

I play once a month at this service that is very inspirational and friendly. Always good to give a day of music to a great listening and caring group. I play original songs, sometimes written for the message a week beforehand. Keeps me sharpening my songwriting skills.

About: Singer/Songwriter, Kiki Wow, plays regularly throughout the Monterey Peninsula both classic favorites and original songs. Her sweet vocals and rhythm guitar hit a delightful and familiar chord that has her audiences singing along from the first song on. She has the ability to transport an audience to a better place. Her songs are upbeat, and catchy, and put down roots in your mind. There’s a lot of the same sunshine and sea-breeziness in her music that KAREN CARPENTER or THE BEACH BOYS are famous for. Carefree, beautifully soaring harmonies are an element of most of Kiki’s songs—SHERYL CROW’s “Soak Up The Sun” could easily pa . . . More »

Great Food & Music

This is a BLUEGRASS night with a wonderful local band, Hilltown. It’s been awhile since I’ve seen/heard them but they sure are a crowd-pleaser.

About: Named after the little town that grew out of the well traveled Salinas river fording site of the mid 1800s, the newly formed four-piece bluegrass band Hilltown is sure to get your toes a tapping. All of the band members live in the Monterey area; three on hills overlooking the bay and the other just across from the old Hilltown site in Salinas--hence the name. Three of the band members, also of the venerable Fog Valley Drifters based mainly in Modesto, were looking for a way to stay in practice locally and invited guitar flat picker par excellence and singer Norm Green to join in. As happens with a lot of bands, things clicked an . . . More »

Our Wedding Vows - One Year Ago

photo by C Jo Go Photography

And together we said our wedding vowels: A - E - Ah - "I - Do" and sometimes Why?

Greg’s Vows:

A vow, a promise, an oath...It is said that a promise made in a storm is often forgotten in calm. I, being surrounded by love, friendship, loyalty and kindness, vow to love, hold and cherish you in sickness and health because in this moment of calm, I promise. I have never in my life been so very calm, cool and collected. And in this calm I promise these things to you.

Kiki’s Vows:

I promise to...always pray together about everything. Fold your jeans and shirts right. Make your coffee the way you like it, with It . . . More »   Still working on the photo album
