Vincent Randazzo

Alternative / Indie
http://vincentrandazzomusic.com

Monterey Bay native Vincent Randazzo is a musician known for his prowess in the studio as well as his performances on the stage- a pairing becoming scarce in modern music. His compositions through a car stereo may come across as concise, his lyricism introspective, with each arrangement premeditated and melted down to it’s truest essence. Put him on a dimly lit dive bar stage? Excitement and energy abound. Songs contract to pull in audiences and expand to fill the room; off the cuff but with no expense of quality. A dialogue is created and it is clear Randazzo has a natural talent to read a room and take hold while leaving them room to breathe. No doubt, he has learned a thing or two in his run with local rock outfit Moses Nose and his current project orchestrating the seven piece supergroup the Beholder Band.

Kenny Chung

Alternative / Indie
https://db.tt/LCu87BKl

Kenny Chung is a traveler first, a writer second, and where ever appropriate, music fills in the voids and cracks. The sage words of legendary comedian, Bill Hicks,"It`s just a ride," have guided Kenny Chung throughout his life and have come to define the rules he lives by. During his travels, Kenny has been exposed to harmony in chaos, contentment in scarcity, and trust in the unknown. The experiences of the road have now fueled an engine of music and the stories that come forth provide compelling glimpses into the nature of humankind. Inspired by songwriters such as Jackie Greene, Shakey Graves, and Ryan Adams, Kenny borrows the tools of brevity and wit to carve out tales of loved and lost women, the obscurities of death and life, and everything in between. Kenny Chung plays with an intricate finger picking style that creates a sonic marriage of bass and melody, and sings with the highs and lows of the dynamic tides written within his songs.

Concave & Machines Learning

Alternative / Indie
www.facebook.com/events/221354951354153/

Concave instrumental post rock http://www.facebook.com/concavesound http://concave.bandcamp.com direct download of the album "History Is The Future" http://www.oscillatorrecords.com/Concave_HistoryIsTheFuture.zip This time around the live band again features Jon Ugale (drums) and Mallory Mickel (bass) of Granted Earth as well as my recording engineer Aaron Rauber of Franklin Street Studio on guitar. bio: Seaside, CA based multi-instumentalist musician James Findlay brings to life the sonic fury of Concave with heavy guitars, thundering drums and creative bass lines while still conveying thoughtful melodies with effects laden guitars that complete the soundscape of this instrumental rock music. Concave began in the bedroom of a house like many bands do, except without the multiple like-minded people usually needed to create music. Findlay forged ahead on his own with a cheap digital recording setup and little knowledge of recording. Originally writing and demoing at home under the moniker Cycle 23, Concave was born with the release of "A Journal Of Civilization" in 2006, a self recorded and self released documentation that showed promise for the future and highlighted a love for bands like Hum, Shiner, Isis and Pelican. In 2011 a major leap forward was taken and a clearer, more concise picture of the Concave sound emerged with the release of "History Is The Future". Featuring 6 tracks of noisy post rock that was recorded and co-produced by Aaron Rauber at Franklin Street Studio in Monterey, CA, this album again tipped it`s hat to bands like Hum and Pelican but had other influences like Dianogah and Don Caballero shining through. A fellow Seaside, CA band with a similar heavy sound and influences called Granted Earth stepped in and has become Concave to help re-create this music in a limited number of live appearances since the albums` release. Continually driven by the need to create challenging and thoughtful music, Concave continues into the future with the planned 2013 release of "Time Is The Fire In Which We Burn" Machines Learning (from San Diego, CA) indie rock http://www.facebook.com/machineslearning http://machineslearning.bandcamp.com/ personel: paul balmer - guitars, vocals bradley botbyl - bass mario quintero - drums live drums: william driskill anthony robert dixon bio: Melodic and abrasive in the right places, Machines Learning will punch you in the chest and massage you with hypnotic passages. They hit hard with a revitalized loud quiet loud approach of the early 90s, bands like My Bloody Valentine, Sunny Day Real Estate, Sonic Youth and Hum all come to mind. When the band aims at a build, they are relentless. The song Bulletproof Tiger is a great example, the precision pounding drums, body rattling bass and wall of guitars reach such a tremendous crescendo that there is nowhere left to climb. Instead the song’s peak empties into a well of sound, a soft ambient abyss, giving you just enough breathing room to anticipate the next triumphant build, which comes soon and spikes immense. Singer / Guitarist Paul William Balmer sighs with a unique soft innocence which works especially well juxtaposed against the angular serrated guitars of satAMcoffee. That same soft innocence can give way to a fierce piercing howl when the necessity of the dynamic dictates, matching the intensity of Mario Quintero’s arena worthy fills and Bradley Botbyl’s steadied driving bass work. Machines Learning reclaims the potency of the trio, building a tremendous sound that leaves the listener marveling at the fact that three humans are indeed making it. They are the essence of rock n roll, bass, guitar, drums and vocals, all that was ever needed to move the mind and heart and shake the soul to its core. The band is composed of three San Diego natives, brought together through the crosspollination of a fertile music scene. Brad and Paul had played together in the band Better Class of Flying Man and later Petticoat. After Petticoat broke up, Paul began concentrating on Immovable Objects. Multi instrumentalist and owner of Black Box Studio, Mario Quintero was engineering the Immovable Objects record. After Paul had recorded his guitar parts he had some extra riffs he wanted to lay down, Mario offered to play drums, Brad got the call on bass and Machines Learning was born. -- James Findlay Oscillator Records 831.238.1603 oscillatorrecords@gmail.com http://www.oscillatorrecords.com

Bendalf the Backwards

Alternative / Indie
Video in Big Sur - great footage

Video
I`ve seen a lot of musicians and Bendalf is definitely unique. Really enjoyed him playing the bass and flute but mostly - the drums with his mouth. He`s quite intriging you will see for yourself. Why Bendalf the Backwards? Because you can give him any word at all, and he`ll say it - then spell it - backwards before your very ears. Love this guy. Very deep too. If you watch his video and you hear the drums - he`s doing that with his mouth, while he`s playing the flute! He does it with the bass too. See: http://www.reverbnation.com/bendalf

Johnny Tsunami

Alternative / Indie

Johnny Tsunami and the Shoulder Hoppers recipe is simple; play rock n’ roll clean, tight and right. Vocalist and rhythm guitarist Ron Triplett’s influences of John Cougar, Bowie, Clash, Sublime among others, allows Johnny Tsunami to play a mix of alternative rock renditions, classic rock along with originals that have hints of the countryside intertwined. Diversity of music genres is what makes Johnny Tsunami approach-- fresh. Bassist Michael C. Royster, rock steady veteran drummer Allan Linn and lead Guitarist/Vocalist Michael Barrett, play rock/reggae jams that include old school classics such as Jimmy Cliff, Dylan, The Dead, Stones, Kinks and more. Johnny Tsunami aims for a blend of “B-SIDE” rock, reggae, and hippy-garage renditions, inspiring the band members and long- time surfers of the coast to jam down around town!

The Proudest Monkeys

The Proudest Monkeys is a musical collective operating out of Monterey, California. In 2016, band leader Trevor Lucier released the album, "Destruction of the Species", to a welcoming, and supportive local music scene. Following a successful first show, which was declared one of the area`s best shows of the year by local publication The Monterey County Weekly; the rest of the group came together around a mutual conviction that music is a potent resource in the movement to bring humanity closer together. With this ideal in mind, The Proudest Monkeys have set out to perform all over the Central California Area in an effort to bring together the many local scenes that exist in the region. Equipped with an arsenal of several albums worth of original material, the band is currently in the process of building a hefty war-chest in order to get their high-energy theatrics and concepts captured precisely in the studio. At the helm of this endeavor are members Ricky Swete - Lead Guitar; Mourad Shehadeh - Keyboard; Tim Ingram - Drum; Trevor Lucier - Vocal/Bass Guitar; Nick Stoeberl - Vocal/Percussion
