Sammy Roye and Jack Hanson formed the Santa Cruz Beach Cowboys in 1998. Sammy plays the bass and he also sings lead. He started his musical career during High School in the Palo Alto area. His first bass lesson was from a guy named Jerry Garcia. Sammy`s High School band was signed by Columbia Records. His band played with San Francisco area bands such as Santana, Quick Silver Messenger, Lydia Pense, Tower of Power, Sly Stone, Credence Clearwater, Stevie Nicks, and Janice Joplin`s Big Brother. Jack is the guitarist and sings lead. He is a local ‘Santa Cruzer’ who became involved in music in his early teens. Jack`s influences range from Wes Montgomery and Miles Davis to Jeff Beck. He is regarded as one of the most creative and original guitarists of the area. Drummers Don Rutter and Dave Price provide the kick and backbeat. Blaine Deaton and John Tindle work the keyboards and sing as well. Tim Floyd on pedal steel guitar gives us a tropical flair. Tim`s played with many recording artists, most recently Hank William`s Jr. These guys are joined by two gifted saxophone players, Jimmy Hannibal and Tamas Marius, to bring the house down every time they play. Mike Kilchenman runs the PA and makes sure the band always sounds at its best!

The Upbeats

Dance / Classic Rock / Covers

Come and enjoy classic covers and originals the way they should be played. I`ve had the pleasure of booking and performing with some of the best musicians in this area. The Upbeats is just that - Scott Dickson on Guitar (Sons of Twang), Mike Lowe on Bass (Retrospect), Greg Edenfield on Drums and Kiki Wow on Guitar/vocals. No doubt you will enjoy our setlist taking you to a time not long ago - one of the best times to be alive and taking in the music.

Scott Dickson aka Dr. Twang

Dance / Classic Rock / Covers

Scott Dickson, AKA Dr.Twang! has been playing guitars in bands since before Disco died. An avid ethnomusicologist and a student of obsolete musical technology, Scott co-wrote and recorded "EXPOSURE" with Phoenix based sci-fi space rock icons Hillary Blaze, recently re-released on Rockadrome records. www.rockadromerecords.com "The spacey punk vibe, sizzling guitar and snotty vocals make the album a somewhat unique experience for it`s time. The original vinyl pressing is rare as hen`s teeth and a prized score for collectors. Taken from the original masters, the sound is nothing short of killer...." Finally a "Spinal Tap" moment finally came for Scott around 1988, when someone gave him John Hiatts` "Bring The Family"CD, and he traded the Gibson Flying V for a Telecaster, 3 chords, and the search for truth. Scott plays guitars, Dobro, and lap and pedal steels. A proud member of the California Bluegrass Association, he now lives in Pacific Grove, California, with his trophy wife and rescue cat.
