“Kiki Wow plays acoustic-based folk music with uplifting messages of hope and love. It is well-crafted and played with precision and feeling. Wow carries the show nicely on acoustic guitar as Rivera and Sampson fill in around her. Wow’s material is “well-crafted and played with precision and feeling,” adding, “Her voice is the real star of the show, ranging between a deep sultry alto and ethereal falsetto.” Summary: “Kiki Wow has a voice that is easy to listen to via some backup players who elevate her music to a noteworthy level.”
Music Connection July 2001
“You definitely have signature sound!”

Kiki Wow is a unique treasure to the songwriter community. As the beloved host of the famous Monday Night Open Mike at Kulaks Woodshed in No. Hollywood, Kiki’s unabashed encouragement of young songwriters has become so legendary that, literally, songs have been written about her! But gracious though she may be as a host and emcee, her own songwriting shows the craft of a true professional. The lyrics are wide and deep; the music deceptively simple and accessible, but the unusual chord changes reveal the depth and complexity of her compositions. Her songs stay in your head and express so beautifully the mixed feelings of the heart. Kiki claims she wants her music to make you feel happy--or horny...preferably both! She’s appeared on ABC’s "The Norm Show" portraying (of all things!) an open mike singer, her songs have been heard in several independent films, she’s currently completing her latest CD release Top Of The World, produced by Grammy-winning producer CJ Vanston. To find out more about what’s so Wow about Kiki, visit her website at www.kikiwow.com.

WOW! I did not know what to expect at all… and what an awesome surprise. I so dig it… like every track, especially “Top of the World,” “”Dream Come True,” and “It’s New Year’s Day.” Your music is so soulful, well-crafted, meaningful and passionate. Thank you so much for exposing yourself to the world… this year! Truly a gift to us.
Well-crafted songs, great production, what a voice!

The sound is unique and wonderful. I’ve listened to this CD about a dozen times this week, it’s an attestment to good production standards and fine songwriting. Well done!
I felt at ease from the first note!
Reviewer: Dale Freeman
I received your CD, Back to Nature. I put it on and from the first note, I felt at ease. I love the way you put the listener into a state of serenity. Genre questions? There are no genre questions really. Sarah McLachlan is pop while Norah Jones was taken for light jazz until she revealed her country soul on her 2nd release. Lucinda Williams shows her country and rock influences on every release. I suppose if you recorded with jazz musicians instead of rock musicians your songs would take on that genre - as it is they are ’soft’ rock/pop sounding to me. The Back to Nature CD is solid. Only track 4 felt a little over-arranged on the first listen. I really enjoyed hearing your work. Your voice is the most impressive when it captures my imagination by seeming to be on the brink of sharing a life secret of wisdom. You convey that that you have a message worth listening to in your voice and your lyrics work with surprising simplicity in conveying what is true about the human condition. Your songs are reminders of many things that we forget from day to day. Well. I was impressed.
Kiki is in rotation on my CD player 24/7!
Reviewer: Art Duarte
OK - after your CD has been in rotation 24/7 in my new convertible, I have decided that "Top Of The World" is my favorite song. I must have listened to it 50 times so far! Great job Ms. Wow. It’s great driving music with the top down!
What you hear is what she is ~
Kiki really is what you hear and see - open & honest, inquisitive, caring, childlike and totally a woman all at the same time. Good guitar player, too! Can’t wait for more.

She is loved and adored by everyone ...
Reviewer: Bruce Teitell
Kiki is loved and adored by everyone but what is amazing is she has a big enough heart to love them all right back. She’s an entertainer who puts a smile on your face whether she is saying something totally "kiki-ish" or when she is just singing you her songs. She’s a living, breathing, walking party just looking for a bunch of heads to put party hats on.
Your vibe is soooooo real!

I listened straight through "Back To Nature"...
Reviewer: David Rowe
You did some unique things that surprised me. It’s personal and fresh. I found the tracks to be somewhat independent and I like that. Each song had its own cradle so to speak. Both of your producers did a good job. It’s nice and groovy and I felt invited in.<
|Wow, wow WOW (more than a mere exclamation its a name)!!! Just look whos back again. Shes the Hostess With the Mostest at an Open Mic show that is very popular simply because of her. |Lets see, why me mom is awesome. |
My mom and I are very lucky, we are very close. I don’t really know when or why but it’s always been that way. My mom never made me feel intimidated to get respect she never yelled at me or felt like she had to lay down a strict law of the house like in some of my friends houses. Most times if I did know what to do about something I would ask her and she would explain to me both side of the situation and guide me from there. Doing that, giving me an explanation on things, really helped me find out what was right and wrong in life because I could understand both sides of the story. I always respected her for listening to me even on the most trivial maters. I’m really happy because when I was growing up I never really felt forced in anything my moms pretty flexible on things I never really gave her any reasons to be strict with me. I was that nerdy/artsy/sporty girl that had no interest in trouble. There were some rules and duties around the house, but most stuff I was happy to help with. My mom love gardening and every spring we would take time from the day to plant flowers around the house. Since I helped her plant them if she told me to water them I didn’t really feel like it was a chore, mom told me that they needed to eat too. It made sense, and now all of my plants that I have in college are very happy for that lesson. Growing up in Burbank, CA the world is always so fast paced, both my parents would always remind me that we need to slow down and appreciate the things around us that we can miss rushing from one place to another. Often me and mom would walk our dog together and look at the clouds or drive to the beach or a mountain trail hike up a few miles and just sit on the grass or a rock and just enjoy the moment. Sometimes mom would bring her guitar and we would sing together at the highest point on the mountain. Most of the time I was antsy to be doing something and kind of missed the point when I was younger but as I grew older I noticed that I did take time from my days just to be. I like laying on a very nice green patch of grass in the middle of campus listening to everyone walking by during passing period or lying bed of snow in the dead of winter at night just to see the stars after a storm. I’ve realized the past couple of years, being away at college, those moments with mom are when I learned how to do that. I’m very glad I do not miss out on the small things in life. I remember mom saying sometimes when the days were tough or hard at school that it’ll be ok tomorrow because it’s just another thing on the wind. Or something likes that, the point got across to me that it’ll pass and life still goes on. That lesson is very important to my artwork and studies in cinema now. Recording and experiencing the moment’s in-between when life happens. Her and I have many things we do and have experienced together we have a tight bound in what we do together and experience together. I’m excited to get back after my graduation this May and tell her all about my life in college.
Over all I think me and my mom have such a rare and amazing connection because I’ve know every since I was little that she loves me, for better or worst on good days and bad, whether I’m next to her or across the country I can feel my moms love for me. That’s all that really matters in the ebb and flow of life, it the one thing I can always count on.

|ROCK & ROLL LOVE LETTER|
I’m not going to lie to you—KIKI WOW is one of my favorite people on the planet on or off stage. But, can I relate to you exactly what makes her a uniquely
exciting and sexy performer? I think so.
Simply put, Kiki is just a little more alive than anyone I know.
She has the ability to transport an audience to a better place. Her songs are upbeat, and catchy, and put down roots in your mind. There’s a lot of the same sunshine and sea-breeziness in her music that KAREN CARPENTER or THE BEACH BOYS are famous for. Carefree, beautifully soaring harmonies are an element of most of Kiki’s songs—SHERYL CROW’s “Soak Up The Sun” could easily pass for one her originals.
Her long-standing Monday Night show at KULAK’S WOODSHED in North Hollywood is a popular “hang” and most of Los Angeles best songwriters have made an appearance. The six-camera live webcast is faithfully viewed on the internet by people the world over!
Kiki’s story will make a hell of a TRUE HOLLYWOOD STORY one day. It’s had its share of high points, to be sure—from an appearance as a coffeehouse singer on
NBC’s NORM, to opening for MIDNIGHT OIL at the height of their fame. Her life has also held its share of hardships, but you’d never know it to meet her.
Her “Songwriter Circles” have been held at venues from The Cat Club to UCLA’s Royce Hall and in producing them, Kiki showcases, as much as anything, her desire to nurture and support the talents of the performers she admires.
This warm, giving, earth mother side of her is incredibly sexy, and men and women both respond to it. It shows in everything she does, from greeting a
friend, to debuting a work-in-progress at one of her regular L.A. haunts. She’s such a positive force that, when I first met her, I thought her outlook had
to be an act, but that’s just “Keek”.
While all of this is true, I think the main reason I never miss an opportunity to see her perform is that she’s the kind of person I’d like to be.

Thank you for the picture you sent in from Carmel Valley Village. I plan to use it on Monday night on Central Coast News at 6 at the end of the weathercast. I receive a number of pictures each day and I try and use them in the order I receive them. I cannot use them all, but at any one time I can have 2 to 4 weeks in the que and that is why it has taken so long to get to your picture.
Thank you for being patient and I hope you can watch.
