1) Morten Kier is a platinum-selling artist out of Copenhagen, Denmark. He writes and performs music in many genres, mainly indie pop, r’n’b, soul, and jazz. He has performed on 3 continents, in small venues as well as on giant stages, and intimate concerts in small venues or private homes are among his favorites. In this concert Plaza Linda, he will present a selection of his newest songs in the genres of jazz/pop/soul. In between, Morten will tell stories about his journeys around the world, life, love, and everything in between. It’s simply voice and piano. It’s fun, warm, and intense. Morten, who has a Masters in Vocal Performance from The Royal Academy Of Music, tours both in the US and abroad. He performs solo (voice and piano), with his LA trio, with the vocal group ’m-pact’, or as a lead singer of the band ’Gårsdagens Lys’ (’The Light of Yesterday’). He also works as a producer for other artists, performs as a soloist or background vocalist on animated movies, album productions, and TV, does vocal workshops with ’Ørehænger’, and writes arrangements and handbooks for singers.
Morten is the proud owner of the record label, Gule Plader, on which he released his first debut album “Fra en ny altan” (“From A New Balcony”) in 2008. The album release was followed by more than 120 home concerts in Northern Europe, a band tour, and several national TV performances.
For 7 years, Morten was a member of the internationally acclaimed vocal group ’Basix’. The six guys came in second at the national pre-competition for the Eurovision Song Contest, performing the song "I Australien" ("In Australia") that Morten co-wrote with Niels Nørgaard. The band immediately became a popular act on the Danish music scene, and while Morten was still a member, Basix performed several hundred shows in Northern Europe and recorded 2 award-winning albums with a combination of cover songs and original compositions. The debut album “The Grass” (2001) even went platinum.
Since July 2010, Morten has lived in Hollywood, California. He is currently recording material for his next solo album that will be released in 2012.
