Harpin and Clark

HARPIN AND CLARK After playing together in various bands along the central coast over the last 25 years, Harpin Jonny and Peter Clark have joined together to form a dynamic musical experience of warm vocals, finger-picking guitar, and harmonica. Harpin Jonny is a virtuoso harmonica player who has played for over 30 years. He has been featured on several radio and television venues, performed with many bands and currently fronts three bands: The Primadons for the last 25 years, and the Groovehounds for the last 15 years, and The Unpaid Bills for the last seven years. He has recorded on numerous CD projects and has established himself as a sought-after performer. He is multi-talented in playing country, blues, rock, jazz, and blue grass licks. Peter Clark has been playing music in Santa Cruz since his days leading the Louis and Clark band starting in 1978 and continuing with Stormin Norman and many other local musicians through the years. These days, he concentrates on acoustic finger-style guitar picking in the tradition of Chet Atkins, Doc Watson, and Tommy Emmanuel. Drawing from his own songs and from sources as diverse as Hoagy Carmichael, Al Anderson, and Townes Van Zandt, the marriage of tasty picking and carefully crafted arrangements result in a remarkable musical adventure. Peter Clark joins Jon on his most recent CD, Harpster, which features beautiful renditions of “Over the Rainbow” and “Django Jericho” and is getting radio play and rave reviews. They have played together at numerous wineries, home concerts, and city concert events.
